About

My home is full of books, Legos, Nerf guns, and laundry that needs folding. Our family enjoys hiking and tent camping, having friends over to enjoy a meal, and reading Harry Potter books as a family. In my down time, I roam aimlessly around Target and Hobby Lobby, drink coffee, and color my hair.

I am a woman, worshipper of God, wife, and mom.  The order of these doesn’t reflect their order of importance, but simply the order in which those things came to be—created by God, put my faith in him, met my wonderful husband, and became a mom to my precious sons. In my blogs I’ll share aspects of these areas of my life, and how the most important thing, being a worshipper of God, impacts the other three.

I was confronted with my need to go my own way or put my faith in God at the age of eight. As a young girl whose greatest sin was coloring outside the lines in my coloring book (my mom begs to differ), I realized that I was still a sinner in need of the Savior and that Jesus Christ had atoned for my sin through his death on the cross, then rose again three days later, defeating death and proving he is God. Later as a teenager, I surrendered to God’s will for my life, whatever that looked like. In college I served in Youth Ministry. After college I went on to get my Masters in Christian Education at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, TX. I served several years on staff at a church, ministering to teenaged girls and their families. Realizing that I did a lot of counseling, that I loved it, but felt quite inadequate as a counselor, I returned to SWBTS and received my Masters in Marriage and Family Counseling. I truly believe in leading people to God’s Word to sort out life’s burdens. It was during this time that I met and married my husband. I was 30 years old by the time that happened! You know, when I started that counseling degree I was single, but by the time I finished, I was married and had given birth to my first two sons! For a few years, I juggled educating my boys at home while doing some counseling for my church, until baby boy #3 arrived.

Currently, I train parents to teach their children in a Classical Conversations homeschool community, while teaching my sons. I also mentor student wives at SWBTS, and help lead our Young Married Life Group at our church.
